for Garage Doors

Garage Doors Side Clearance (A)
- The recommended side clearance
for doors up to 4000mm wide is 90mm on each side of the
opening. Doors greater than that width require a
recommended minimum of 100mm side clearance on both
sides.
- If an electric operator is to
be fitted, the side room recommendation increases by
75mm on one side. For further information please contact
our technical department.
NB: Sizes stated are ABSOLUTE MINIMUM. More clearance
will allow greater ease of installation.
Garage Doors Headroom Clearance
(B)
For doors up to 3950mm wide a
minimum clearance of 335mm is required between the garage
ceiling and the underside of the lintel.
For doors over 3950mm wide a minimum clearance of 500mm is
required between the garage ceiling and the underside of the
lintel.
Clearance back into the garage (C)
The clearance must extend a minimum
460mm back from the opening for doors up to 4000mm wide and
600mm for doors over 4000mm wide.
Curtain size
- For doors up to 400mm wide the
overlap each side of the opening = 25mm
- For doors over 400mm wide the
overlap each side of the opening = 50mm
Other Requirements
- The area around the opening
needs to be structurally sound and strong enough to
support the door.
- The lintel must be flush with
the opening piers and not protruding forwards or
backwards.
- The surface to which the door
is to be fitted should be reasonably smooth and flush.
